Sean Seeger

Dr Sean Seeger is Senior Lecturer in Literature in the Department of Literature, Film, and Theatre Studies at the University of Essex. His research and teaching focus on modern literature and culture. His main areas of interest are modernism, speculative fiction, utopian studies, and queer studies. Sean's work also draws on social theory, cultural theory, and cinema.

Sean has published books, journal articles, and essays on a wide range of topics, including nonlinear temporality in modernist literature, utopian socialism in contemporary fiction, dystopia and the sociological imagination, science fiction and social forecasting, queer theory and utopianism, and the cultural politics of hope. Since 2019, he has been collaborating with the sociologist Daniel Davison-Vecchione (University of Cambridge) on a series of articles on speculative fiction and social theory, which they are currently developing into a book.
